Setting Up Your RESPA Device

Connecting Your Device

  1. Ensure your RESPA device is charged

  2. Open the RESPA Mindfulness app

  3. Tap the device icon in the top right corner

  4. Follow the on-screen pairing instructions

  5. Attach the device to your shirt collar near your chest

Proper Device Placement
For best results, clip the RESPA device to your shirt collar so it rests comfortably against your chest. The sensor should be secure and able to detect your breathing movements clearly. For optimal performance, place the device just below your collarbone.

First-Time Setup
When you first open the app, you'll be guided through:
• Device pairing
• Choosing your first guided session

Account & App

Is my data private?
Yes. RESPA Mindfulness does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All communication between the app and your RESPA device occurs locally on your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I use RESPA on multiple devices?
Yes. You can install RESPA Mindfulness on multiple iOS devices. You’ll need your wearable device to complete sessions on any device.

Device & Hardware

How do I charge my RESPA device?
Use the included USB charging cable. A full charge takes less than 1 hour and provides up to 5 hours of active use.

My device won’t connect. What should I do?
Try the following:

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled

  2. Check that the device is charged

  3. Force close and reopen the app

  4. Restart your iPhone

  5. Go to Settings → Device → Forget Device, then pair again

Can I use RESPA without the wearable device?
No. The wearable device is required to provide live in-session breathing feedback and Match Score after each session.Is the device waterproof?
The device is splash-resistant but not waterproof. Avoid submersion.

Sessions & Practice

How long should I practice each day?
Even 2 minutes a day can help. Start with a 1-minute session and increase gradually.

What is a Match Score?
Your Match Score (0–100) shows how closely your breathing aligns with the guided pattern.

Why is my Match Score low?
Low scores can occur when:
• You’re still learning the rhythm
• Device placement needs adjustment
• There are distractions
• Natural variations in breathing occur

Can I customize session length?
Sessions currently come in preset lengths designed for specific outcomes.

Which session should I start with?
We recommend “Focused Basic Breathing” or “Focused Box Breathing.”

Can I practice without audio?
Yes. You can mute audio and follow visual cues only.

Troubleshooting

Connection Issues

The app won’t connect to my device
• Ensure Bluetooth is on
• Confirm the device is charged
• Keep the device within 10 feet
• Unpair and re-pair the device
• Update the app

Connection keeps dropping
• Check for Bluetooth interference
• Ensure the battery isn’t low
• Keep your phone close
• Avoid high wireless-traffic areas

Session Issues

Breathing patterns aren’t showing clearly
• Clip the device securely
• Ensure the sensor touches your chest
• Adjust placement slightly
• Avoid rapid movement
• Choose fitted clothing

Audio isn’t playing
• Check volume settings
• Ensure the session isn’t muted
• Check Do Not Disturb
• Ensure correct audio output
• Restart the session

Visual guidance is slow or lagging
• Close background apps
• Restart your iPhone
• Update iOS
• Free device storage

App Performance

App crashes or freezes
• Update RESPA Mindfulness
• Restart your phone
• Reinstall the app

App is running slowly

Device Care & Maintenance

Cleaning

• Wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth
• Avoid harsh chemicals
• Allow to dry fully before use

Storage

• Store in a cool, dry place
• Keep away from extreme temperatures
• Use the provided case
• Avoid direct sunlight

Battery Care

• Charge regularly
• Avoid full depletion
• Unplug when fully charged
• Battery lifespan: 2–3 years

Privacy & Security

What data does RESPA collect?
RESPA Mindfulness does not collect or transmit any personal data.

How does the device communicate with the app?
All communication occurs locally over Bluetooth on your device.

Is data shared with third parties?
No. Since we collect no data, nothing is shared or sold.
